Remembering 9/11

Where were you on September 11, 2001?

I remember where I was: I was at work at one of the Manchester hospitals, back when I was working full-time as a network engineer. I was in my cubicle working when one of my colleagues at that time stuck his head into the room and said, "a plane crashed into the World Trade Center." Nobody was sure whether or not to believe him, but we all found a television set in time to see the second plane crash into the North Tower.

That day will be etched into my mind for as long as I live. I will never forget.

I was at school, working. I knew something was wrong when they called all of the international students to office IMMEDIATELY. Mike was working at home and he eventually called me. He had turned CNN on when he hears that a plane crashed in to the first tower. He saw the second one live and knew things were 'not good'. We tried to hold regular classes for the rest of the day, but as so many of our families are military, we mostly spent time letting them talk and squashing rumours. What a way to begin the year in a new school.
