Line Of Duty Death

Remember the men of Boston FD's Ladder 26 and Engine 37. They lost one of their own yesterday: Lieutenant Kevin Kelley, a 30-year veteran of the department, was killed instantly when the ladder truck crashed into a building in the Mission Hill area of Boston.

His body was recovered two hours after the crash.

Three children in the building were sent to the hospital with injuries. The Boston FD will be investigating to determine if the brake system on the ladder truck failed, causing the crash.

According to those who were interviewed in published news reports, Lt. Kelley was a hard-charger who also loved to play practical jokes on his fellow firefighters, but overall was a fine human being and a good friend to those who knew him.

Lieutenant Kevin M. Kelley, Boston Fire Department
1956-2008

Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord
And let perpetual light shine upon him.
May he rest in peace.
Amen.
