Scratching My Head

I don’t really know how to kick this post off, mainly because I don’t know what to write about today. I’ve been pretty tired lately, and it’s been tough to stay on top of things. Too much work – I’m sure about that.

I’m in Boston today, sitting in the beloved Tool Shed. Later today (actually, at noon-time) all of the Boston-based Paramedics have to be in a mandatory class on a new ventilator we are going to be getting. I don’t know which brand and model, but I’m hopeful that it has more features than the leaf-blower we currently carry aboard our ambulances. More on that as I have further information.

I started my refresher this morning. It’s all online with one practical session that I will have to schedule out in Greenfield. At least it’s only one trip, and it’s for four hours at the most. As long as I do it before August 23, there will be no problem. As for the online part, it looks pretty good so far. I did a module on the Pathophysiology of Shock, and it was a decent review. It was canned – the presentation came from Mosby’s medic text, I think, but it was thorough and reasonably coherent.

I’ll keep working on it – I have a feeling it’s going to be rather comprehensive when all is all said and done.

The Handover Blog this past time around was really good – all about communication. I didn’t participate because it got away from me. But I will be looking for something to write about for the next one. The theme is “pivotal moments”, and I have some in my past. I just need to take a bit of time to figure out which one to talk about. That will be coming soon.

For now – it is becoming another day in beautiful Boston...

Sometimes it pays to force oneself to write something even when he does not have the necessitated drive or sufficiently clear ideas to do so: It gets the mind started. I'm looking forward to reading about those reviews you mentioned.Telling us about it(that we have something to look forward to) even if you have a hard time writing this particular blog is more than good enough for us.

It's nice to have a colorful life. Pivotal. Hmmm... every simple moment can be pivotal. Just try to be reflective while eating your comfort food and the moments in retrospect will start to kick in...

Speaking of The Shed, was that you I spotted at BID about 0300 Friday morning? Coming out of the ED with a transfer or something.

I work on the P60 out of Roslindale on both Thursday and Saturday, so it probably was me - we were up all night dealing with all manner of people going across the street. And I know we were there sometime around then. And I have a brand new Thursday partner, a 21 year-old that I am going to have to break in a bit. I think he's going to be a decent medic, but he's young.

Enough said.

I saw an H&H ALS truck in front of the doors when we arrived. Were you on it?
