Blah. Ick.

I hate feeling like crap.

It started late yesterday. I was feeling tired when I went to class last night, and I’d not been feeling particularly well prior to that. I’d gotten out of work yesterday morning and was dog tired because the shift was busy, so I attributed my not feeling well to fatigue. I went to class last night and soft of dragged myself through it, then went home. I made it to bed at about 10:30 and had my alarm set for 4:30 this morning.

I didn’t make it that far. Woke up at about midnight feeling like I had a volcano in my stomach. A few minutes later I nearly didn’t make it to the bathroom. It is right across the hall from my bedroom and it was touch and go, but I barely made it when the contents of the volcano just plain erupted.

It was not pleasant. And it happened like clockwork about every 30 minutes or so until about 5:30 this morning. At that point I finally got to sleep and didn’t wake up for almost 9 hours. I had to call in sick from work as well – this is something I never do, but it was necessary. Otherwise I would have ended up just coming home and doing the same thing.

I feel much better now. A bit weakened, of course, but certainly better. No fever, no chills, no body aches. And everything else has pretty much normalized. But I’m not taking any chances and I’ll make sure I get a decent night’s sleep tonight as well.

On top of this, my wife has a UTI. I took her to the ED on Wednesday because she hadn’t been able keep food down herself. She got re-hydrated, some smooth muscle relaxants for her GI tract, and some Zofran for the nausea. And late yesterday she got a call from the ED that she was positive for nitrates in her Urine. So she’s taking Cipro for the next 3 days.

And the hits just keep on coming…

I have a theory that might help.

We use alcohol preps to kill germs on the skin. We have alcohol hand sanitizer, and all kinds of alcohol based products that keep us healthy by killing germs.

So, taken internally, it must kill germs in your bloodstream, right? See, it's good for you.

Uh-huh. And barley is a grain, providing complex carbohydrates which can ultimately be used to produce energy. Grapes are an anti-oxidant (especially the red ones), and while I've never eaten juniper berries I'm told they make a great garnish for certain dishes.

See - I know you're right - uses abound!

Good Lord, I hope ya'll have recovered or are quickly heading that way.

I'm just getting over it myself, so I'm feeling your pain.
