Veterans Day 2009

To fallen soldiers, let us sing,
Where no rockets fly, nor bullets wing,
Our broken brothers let us bring
To the Mansions of the Lord.

No more bleeding, no more fight,
No prayers pleading through the night,
Just divine embrace, in eternal light
In the Mansions of the Lord.

Where no mothers cry and no children weep,
We shall stand and guard-
though the angels sleep,
All through the ages safely keep
The Mansions of the Lord.

I absolutely LOVE this, Walt. As I was reading the words I was hoping "gee...there has to be music for this" and lo, just below the lyrics there was the YouTube video including the wonderful music. Never heard this before! It'd be nice to find it for next year's Veteran's Day Sunday. Thanks for posting this wonderful tribute. Wonderful.

If you have never seen the movie "We Were Soldiers", this hymn - I'm told it was written by the screenwriter Randall Wallace especially for the film - it is heard at the end during the credits. Very moving piece of music. And this vid was homemade, by the way...

Great video work, too! AND I found there is sheet music for this wonderful piece. I'm thinking Memorial Day Sunday perhaps.
