Hiatus

I took a bit of one over the past week. There has been a lot of stuff going on. And I don’t know quite where to start just because of the amount of activity in my family and my household, not to mention with myself.

I probably should start with the most recent things just because they are the ones I can remember more clearly. So here goes.

First, this past Monday was Martha’s and my wedding anniversary. Married for seven years and together for eight. I am as happy now as I was then. We went out for dinner Monday evening, had a nice time, and both of us had what I suspect was a mild bout of food poisoning. We both recovered from it, though, as Martha went to work yesterday and I was able to get things done around the house.

The weekend was taken up by the Susan G. Komen walk. We both were there, and Martha and I both were very busy. And as busy as it was, it was a really good weekend. Ironically, we didn’t have a horribly busy weekend in terms of the number of patients we saw, but of those we saw there were some sick people. I saw seven patients, three of which had to be sent out. Two of them had hyponatremia, or Sodium levels that were critically lower than normal. We did have some dehydration, but that we were able to treat pretty easily. Of course there were the blisters and the muscle strains, treated by many of the nurses, the athletic trainers, and the physical therapists that were there. And all hands did a fine job. As in the past, I am proud to have worked with these dedicated, terrific people who gave up four days to take care of the approximately 1500 people who were walking.

That’s why we keep going back.

Tomorrow I have an appointment with the Endodontist who is going to hopefully repair the root canal I have had trouble with. I do know that if he is unable to repair it I will lose the tooth. Since I don’t know what’s going to happen tomorrow it isn’t certain that I will lose it. So I will talk more tomorrow about it after the appointment.

There are a couple of other things I need to do. One of the more important things is to register for classes at UNH-Manchester. I’m going to do that tomorrow, hopefully. Classes start in a little over a month, and it is time to get ready for that. I’m looking forward to it, believe it or not. It’s strange that I’m planning to take two science classes – biology and chemistry – but they need to get done. I will get somewhat closer to my goal of being able to (hopefully) go to PA school.

All I have to do is get past the dentist tomorrow.

Belated Anniversary Blessings to you and Martha! Man has that time flown by. And with all you do and have going on, your blogposts are super. About your hiatus --- I haven't written a word in, yikes. Quite a long time. Still buried in boxes and a million other things. And as my friend from Oz would say, "Good on you" both for another time of service at the 3 Day.
